Frequently asked questions

Is there still a company annual fee in the Maldives?

No. The company annual fee was repealed and is not charged from 1 January 2024. Annual fees and fines that were unpaid for periods up to 31 December 2023 are still payable to MIRA, so older companies should check they have no arrears.

How much is the work permit fee in the Maldives?

The work permit fee is MVR 350 per worker per month, paid by the employer, and the expatriate quota fee is MVR 2,000 per quota per year. SMEs are exempt from quota fees for up to 20 quotas. Check the sources on this page for the current position.

Are government fees included in DBS Maldives' service fees?

No. Government fees are paid to the relevant authority and are separate from our service fees, which we agree with you before any work starts. We tell you which government fees apply to your application before you pay anything.
